Our Vision

Wandsworth Sensory Support Service is widely recognised reputation for our work with families. Over the years our pioneering work has produced outstanding results, transforming the lives of hundreds of families with children with sensory disabilities. We want even more families to benefit from our experience, expertise and care. Our Family Centre will be the first of its kind in the UK, and an exemplar for the effective family sensory support service in the UK and internationally.

Help support us to create the UK’s first Family Centre for sensory impaired children and young people. Your support means that:

  • families will for the first time have somewhere fully accessible to get together, overcome isolation and build connections to develop support networks.
  • professionals will be able to collaborate more effectively, putting families and children first
  • support will start from birth/diagnosis, a crucial factor in improving children’s life chances, and continue through key transitions into adulthood and independent living. We give support to children from birth to aged 25.
  • parents will be trained and empowered to work effectively with professionals
  • professionals will be trained and enabled to work better with parents.
  • children and young adults with profound disabilities and complex needs will have a fully accessible centre
  • we can pioneer both parent and professional development in a partnership approach.

The provision of a building is not a statutory responsibility and while we have full support from Wandsworth Council and have identified existing resources for running the centre there is no capital funding available. We need your help to realise our vision.
