Our Projects

As well as helping the day-to-day work of Linden Lodge School and Wandsworth Sensory Support Service we also support major projects. These include:

Hydrotherapy pool

The pool was opened in 2005 with support of £320,000 form the Linden Lodge Charitable Trust.

It is a vital element of the holistic approach taken by Wandsworth Sensory Service. The pool is used by physiotherapists who work with the young people on a range of therapies to help them reach their full physical potential.

Multi-sensory Centre for secondary aged pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities

The Trust raised the funds to equip a State of the Art Interactive Sensory environment, to the highest specification. The Harris Multi-sensory Unit was officially opened in March 2008 and the total raised was £120,000.

Performing Arts and Movement Development Centre

Our students enjoy a range of facilities to help them reach their potential. Performing arts and movement are especially important and in 2011 we were delighted to open the state of the art Performing Arts Centre. After a loan was secured, money received from awarding of Specialist School Status and a major donation from Apogee, an Appeal was launched which raised £100,000 for equipment and facilities.

Latest project – the Sensory Support Family Centre

We are currently raising funds for a ground-breaking new resource – a purpose built Family Centre fully equipped to meet the needs of families and their children, crucially tackling the core issues faced by local families who have a child who is deaf and/or visually impaired, possibly with other complex disabilities; isolation, family breakdown and exhaustion.

The Centre will cost £1.4 million to build and, thanks to the generosity of many we have already raised £1.2 million. But we still need to secure a further £200,000.
